Air Tag enabled catalytic converter theft is on the rise. Thieves are using air tags to steal converters from vehicles, and it's important to take steps to protect your vehicle.
Air tags are small devices that thieves attach to the catalytic converter of vehicles. These tags contain a unique code which the thief can use to locate and steal the converter at a later date. The air tag is placed in an inconspicuous location, near the engine or under the car, but still visible from below. Once located, it takes only a few minutes for the thief to remove the converter.
The best way to protect your vehicle from catalytic converter theft is to be proactive and one of the best approaches is to set up your phone to automatically detect air tags when they are near. If you have an iPhone then Air Tag (device) detection is built in. Learn more about this from Apple here:
For android you will need an app. Thankfully Apple and a few other developers have created automatic detection apps.
